Colter Harris focuses his practice on real estate and finance. He represents real estate developers in acquisitions, land use and development, financing, and disposition. He represents some of the largest financial institutions in the country in real estate, commercial, and asset-based lending transactions.

Mr. Mermis has over 28 years of business management, finance, construction, and engineering experience with nearly 15 years’ concentration in global real estate development financing as the director of a real estate private equity and cross-border financing platform in Austin, Texas. Jared’s real estate career covers a wide spectrum from administering debt and equity financings in large commercial development projects to managing construction of single-family housing developments.

Organizations such as Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers have repeatedly recognized Colter for his legal acumen and client service, often highlighting his strategic approach and deep industry knowledge. He has also taught the Advanced Real Estate Law Course for the State Bar of Texas.

Jared previously enjoyed a successful 11-year engineering and project management career with General Electric, and an R&D design engineer with a leading oilfield services company. For the past several years, he has co-led the underwriting of real estate development investment and financing for Texas Growth Fund and Texas Global Equity.

Colter has particular experience in Tax Credit and Tax Increment Financing, complex mortgage and commercial multi-tier transactions, including mezzanine financing and inter-creditor issues,

and has been integrally involved in the renovation and redevelopment of a number of the historic buildings in Dallas’ Central Business District, representing both developers and lenders.
